We know you might have questions, and we’re here to help! This FAQ is designed to provide quick and clear answers to the most common queries about the Classic to Manager migration. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, ask a question in the comments and help us expand on this FAQ. 🌟

  • What does it mean to migrate away from Classic Manager?

You will lose access to the Classic Manager button and UI. All deep links previously targeting UI sections of Classic Manager will be decommissioned

  • What happens if I don’t migrate features using the Migration Tool?

For Zones & POI, Alarms, and Clients: If you don’t take advantage of the self-serve tool, Trackunit will migrate the remaining data for you, using default values. You will not lose any of data, but the default selections may not suit the categories your organization would use.

For Services: There is no intuitive 1:1 case for Services as those are custom made plans, so if Services are not self migrated the end of the migration period, that data will be lost.

  • I’m currently using Access Management in Classic Manager. How will this migrate?

If your Access Management usage is simple, Trackunit will migrate your ACM 1.0 to 2.0 before you are migrated away from Classic Manager. If you have a complex usage of ACM 1.0 you will receive direct communication on the ACM 1.0 to 2.0 migration before you are migrated away from Classic Manager.

  • I’m missing a feature I used to have. Can I have my access to Classic Manager reinstated?

No. We are decommissioning Classic Manager servers. We have implemented use case parity for all major use cases in Classic Manager, but a few features have not been reimplemented in Manager, as they saw too little use. If you have a feature request, please contact your Trackunit representative.

  • What will happen to the Classic API we are currently using?

The Classic APIs will be deprecated by the end of 2025. Separate communication will be sent out on the API migration. You will still be able to continue to use the Classic APIs until this date, even if you Classic Manager has been decommissioned in your UI.

  • Can Trackunit migrate Classic Zones & POI, Alarms, and Services to default values in Manager?

Yes, we will automigrate Classic Zones & POI, Alarms, and Clients to default values based on their respective use case parities. Services is a bit more complex as there’s no 1:1 way to migrate those, our team is digging into it (as of Feb 4, 2025)

  • Will SMS features continue to be supported after Classic is shut down?

We’ll be deprecating the different SMS features currently built into Classic Manager. Some were developed for another time, where they try to mimic chat functions regularly seen on proper social media platforms and apps. From Trackunit’s side we've decided that we cannot deliver as good a chat function as companies that specialize in these kinds of features. Others see very little overall use and some end up sending alerts to dead-end phone numbers, which are inactive.

When it comes to the SMS Alerts functionality, we will be grandfathering this feature for a period after we close down Classic. This means that the SMS alerts will continue to function for some time. We’ll contact affected customers directly, when we have more detailed information.
